too much information (technology)

for the last couple of days i’ve been reading about new (web) technologies. me reading through the vacancies section has got a lot to do with it :P. beberapa yang menarik perhatian adalah ruby, python, dan good-ol’ php. so i did some research in indeed.com.

here’s the result for “python,ruby,php” :

python,ruby,php Job Trends graph

the result was kinda surprising. php still dominating by a long way. but then i realize, developers are relying much more on frameworks nowadays. and i am only interested in web development related technologies, so i re-research it and here is the result:

django,ruby-on-rails,symfony Job Trends graph

no shit! ruby-on-rails really lived up to the hypes. well i guess i am sticking to my mid-year resolution anyway. Django and Symfony made me curious alright, but ROR is on fire!

on the front-end section, the eye-candy-event-driven-interactivity-stuff i got a little curious. what should match my soon-to-be ruby-on-rails back-end?

ajax,flex,silverlight,javafx Job Trends graph

well well well.. no surprise there..

in the so-called RIA wars between Adobe (Flex) and Microsoft (Silverlight), jelas banget klo Microsoft memang berperang di medan yang salah. MS bole-bole aja tur keliling Indonesia, kerjasama dengan lembaga2 pendidikan untuk mempopulerkan Expression Studio, and even the media (i’m disappointed PCMedia) memuat begitu banyak artikel produk Microsoft, sampai terlihat seolah-olah seperti buletin internal Microsoft.

Dan tentu saja jangan pernah mengesampingkan Ajax, yang semakin mengukuhkan posisinya di dunia Web 2.0. Ajax, the smart hack that single handedly resurrect Javascript from its crypt!

JavaFx was never even a competitor.
